A Life of Service and Sacrifice

Vincent served as a firefighter in New York City from 1994 to 2014. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, he endured the profound loss of 343 fellow firefighters, including 10 from his Manhattan firehouse and his close friend, Rob Parro of Levittown.

A Mission Shaped by Tragedy and Faith

In the wake of that immense loss, Vincent retired and dedicated his life to honoring the friends he lost, and even more deeply, the Friend he found through tragedy. Guided by faith and purpose, he has committed himself to keeping alive the heroism, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of September 11, while also uplifting those who continue to suffer from its lasting effects.

The Birth of Firefighter Charlie

Drawing upon his family's legacy and his personal journey of healing, Vincent transformed a poem written by his father in 1957 into the children's book A Firefighter's Christmas, where the beloved character Firefighter Charlie was first introduced. He later expanded this work with Firefighter Charlie and continues to create both literature and music inspired by faith, remembrance, and what he refers to as his "September Friend."

Honoring Our Heroes and Inspiring Hope

Through his work, Vincent honors the courage of the heroes of September 11, pays tribute to those who gave everything that day, and extends hope to others through storytelling, music, and faith.
